Headline:
Yet Another Blow for Rolls Royce
Description:
Engine maker Rolls-Royce posted a 2005 operating profit of 679 million pounds on Thursday, a jump of 40 percent, helped by higher after-service sales.
Pretax profit rose 49 percent to 584 million pounds, beating the 557 million pounds expected by analysts in the poll.
Sales rose 9 percent to 6.6 billion pounds while lucrative after-service sales rose by 12 percent.
George W Bush's $2.4 billion deal with Rolls royce to develop second engine for the F-35 joint strike fighter faces a threat now as Bush is likely to cancel the deal. Tony Blair's repeated recomendations and requests on this seem to have no effects.
This will have a substantial effect on Rolls Royce balance sheet and forecasts.
